City Installs Reflector Strips on Road Signs to Reduce Distracted Driving

BAYONNE, NJ – An effort spearheaded by First Ward Councilman Neil Carroll III to reduce distracted driving has been launched as a coordinated effort between Mayor Jimmy Davis, the Bayonne City Council, the Bayonne Police Department, and the Bayonne Department of Public Works.

Under the first phase of the pilot program 200 reflector strips have been installed on traffic signs across the city. The strips, according to Davis, reflect when an automobile’s lights hit them, bringing the driver’s focus and attention to them.

The program was launched earlier this week to mark April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
